Golden Waves

The past two days we’ve had clear blue sky’s and golden waves – Golden in colour, not golden in epic-ness! With 2 foot easterly swell, the open beaches have found a few waves rolling through but nothing compared to what the forecast has got lined up for later this week and into the weekend.

Now that I’m settled back into beach life, I’ve been able to get into the water before sunrise in order to capture some of the shots below. Still my favourite time of the day to shoot, when the warm coloured sun is low and hits the back of a wave, for a split second the wave lights up in the most gorgeous golden colour.

As the week progresses the swell will be building from the east, and so will the temperatures with some days getting up to 36 degrees. All this just in time for the Australian Open of Surfing which starts on Saturday this week in Manly, Sydney.
